Abstract: Our lab recently reported completion of the first “whole-cell” model, explicitly accounting for the known functions of every gene product and molecule in the simplest culturable bacterium, Mycoplasma genitalium.  In this talk I will discuss our efforts to expand this new technology to model more complicated organisms, as well as the applications that we see for such models.
